Costa Rica has two seasons. From October through April, it's the dry season, when the waters are warm and the waves are friendly and less powerful.
From May through August, we have the Green season, also known as the wet season. That's the top time for surfing on the Pacific coast and Santa Teresa gets very reliable SW and W swells that keep it surfable every day. Even though that's considered the best time of the year, you can find beginner to advanced spots all year long.
Santa Teresa surf is at its best during the low tides hours, as the breaks are often faster and more fun to ride. Here, surfing is mostly about riding fast waves and catching world-class breaks. While there are definitely some fun spots for beginners, this area is among the best for experts. There are quite a few surf spots in Santa Teresa, but not all have well-known names.
Surrounded by white-sand beaches and a host of natural wonders, Selina Santa Teresa North attracts yoga practitioners, surfers and artists with its bohemian vibe. Whether you came for the music, the culinary experience, or the beautiful people, the inspiring energy will make you never want to leave.
