Funky Monkey

There are two seasons in Costa Rica. The green, or rainy season, happens ins May, June, September, and October. It doesn’t necessarily mean it rains all day long, but mostly during the night with short showers during the day. There is occasional rain in July and August (or little summer), mostly blue sky. Dry season: November through April. There is no rain, blue sky, and sunshine all day long.

The water temperature is almost the same all year round. There is no need for a wetsuit. There are always waves for advanced surfers as well as beginners. Most of the time, waves are medium size, approximately 1 to 3 feet. If you are a good swimmer, you can swim in the lineup, but most likely, you will be just playing in the waves.

Funky Monkey Lodge is known as one of the very first places in the area that started with a couple of bungalows, accommodating surfers and young travelers. We offer different kinds of accommodations for couples, groups, and families.

Our surf and yoga beach lodge is a perfect combination of tropical rainforest, unspoiled beaches, and comfortable accommodations within nature. Friendly hotel staff, delicious food, and customized attention set an amazing stage for your best holiday.

If you like to cook your food, you can use our equipped communal kitchen, on the higher grounds of the property, with beautiful views. Buy groceries and fruits in a nearby supermarket and fix yourself a nice meal.

Hotel infrastructure

Start the morning with several laps or take a refreshing dip in our pool, surrounded by tropical jungle. You can bring a book or grab a drink at the bar and spend some relaxing time in the shade or under the sun, listening to the waves and wildlife.

Our open-air studio in the middle of the jungle is available for use every day. We offer daily yoga classes as well as Aerial Silks! Check out our Special Packages for more information on the all-inclusive yoga/aerial silk retreat.

Restaurant & lounge bar

The open-air restaurant and bar offer a daily menu specially prepared by our chef. Get spoiled with delicious food using fresh ingredients and organic fruits and vegetables. Don’t miss a refreshing cocktail or healthy smoothie.

If you like to get together with other guests, share stories and make new friends, come to our small communal area connected to the restaurant. You can play ping pong or pool, exchange a book, play guitar or check your emails at a desk.
