The El Zonte point break is right in front of the hotel and is one of the most consistent breaks all over the country. The main swell season, March to October, coincides with the rainy season. The south swells during this time can get up to 10ft – the points come alight! The rest of the year, November to February, produces surfable waves, so a trip here can be taken any time.

During the off-season, the winds are almost constantly offshore and it is perfect for beginners to improve their skills or take surf lessons with local instructors, so things are not all bad.

The lodge

We aim to bring the concept of "sustainable luxury" to El Zonte beach by providing our guests with an unparalleled experience while minimizing our environmental impact. The name "Palo Verde" hints at our dedication to preserving the beauty and health of the ocean.

We offer amenities such as an amazing ocean view infinity pool, massages, and surfing. Yoga classes, Spanish lessons, tours, and an unparalleled fusion cuisine experience. Each of our unique rooms offers a special accommodation experience. Classic, clean lines inside emphasize the beauty of the natural tropical environment outside.

Our luxurious beds and linens are all made in El Salvador and each bathroom showcases refillable L'Occitane natural bath and shower products.

All of our guests can enjoy downtime by the crisp, refreshing pool or relax in our tropical garden. All stays include daily breakfast from our innovative on-site restaurant with its unparalleled views of the Pacific and of El Zonte's righthand point break.

We are committed to contributing to the local and national economy by investing in an underdeveloped area and generating new jobs, improving services, and attracting other investors who share our vision of long-term, sustainable business practices.

We follow all government regulations and go beyond; we have transparent financial practices and are helping to elevate the local economy by buying local products and hiring and training local staff.

Ultimately, we believe in a business model based on the triple bottom line of environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

Social sustainability goes hand in hand with equity. Having the ability to eliminate poverty and making sure all different social strata equally benefit from the fruits of economic growth is what we stand for. At Palo Verde, we promote and encourage a way of working and living that stimulate economic, political, cultural, and gender equality amongst all people.

Economic sustainability refers to practices that support long-term economic growth without negatively impacting the social, environmental, and cultural aspects of the community. We promote the rational use of economic resources such as raw materials, water usage, and energy. This means we implement the maximization of the benefits of our resources while minimizing their use of them. Its goal is to achieve, using a model conscious of economic development, a certain level of social well-being that assures access to a good standard of living and guarantees the same opportunities for everyone in the community.

Environmental sustainability is the efficient and rational use of natural resources without compromising the ecological balance. Environmental sustainability automatically means that the use of our natural resources should not harm nor limit the needs of future generations that live on our planet.
