Saladita is one of the best destinations to surf in the world and there's always a good spot to ride its consistent left point breaks. December, January and February are comparatively down months, with surf picking up consistent southwesterly swells from March through November.

There are many, many waves to be had and counted in this very productive and rich period. Saladita is truly a long-boarders dream - a very long paradisiacal ride in extraordinary surroundings.

The lodge

Visit paradise and stay at the newly constructed Villa de Los Mangos nestled comfortably amongst the mangos and coconut palms in beautiful Playa La Saladita along the Costa Grande of Guerrero. Saladita is a stunningly secluded beach just north of Zihuatanejo in the Mexican state of Guerrero along the Pacific Coast.

The small ocean-front village of Playa La Saladita is just a short 45' drive along a mainly newly constructed freeway from the Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa International Airport.

Villa de Los Mangos is a unique, aesthetically built Mexican estate designed by a locally distinguished architect Bryant Eduardo Amezquita Torres.

Unique to the original artistry of this mango surf villa is open high beamed palm and pine ceilings with an original designed sensational floating spiral staircase that ascends to a loft that sleeps four and ultimately a 3rd story terrace with sweeping views of the Pacific coastline, neighboring palm forest, and peeks of the majestic Sierra Madre del Sur through the tops of our mango trees.

Located in the main living area is an impressive historical mural painted by Layla Torres of Morelia depicting the centuries-old story before and at the time of the Spanish conquest of the "La Danza de Los Viejitos" or "the Dance of the Old Wisdom Men." There's an impressive second mirror in the guest bedroom "Carnival Huejotzingo" by José Chaves Morado (1939). The original painting is hanging in the art museum in Fenix, Arizona. Activities during your stay at Villa de Los Mangos include but are not limited to world-class surfing, fishing, beachcombing, yoga, massage, horseback riding, snorkeling, and a local organic farmer's market.

Your stay at this two-bedroom, one giant loft, tropically landscaped mango surf villa replete with all amenities including AC, modern appliances, high-speed internet, outdoor wood-burning barbecue, outdoor bar, and gorgeous mango shaped swimming pool includes daily maid service, and daily landscape and pool maintenance. During your stay, you will have access to 24/7 assistance by Erwing Rodriguez (administrator and property manager) and myself (Tim Myers/owner) should you have any questions, needs, or problems.

Meals & Service

Authentic home-cooked meals can be included on your stay per request at 100 pesos per person per meal plus the cost of the food. Send us a message to know more.

Note: You can have a personal chef and housemaid extraordinaire upon request. They will teach you how to make fresh tortillas - yum, very, very good!

I am just about to turn 74 years young!  It’s quite incredible for me to see this number in print. I hope everyone reading this can appreciate this and be lucky enough to achieve this milestone. I am a retired psychiatrist, having been blessed with an incredibly successful and rewarding 30+ year career taking care of very sick and relatively well patients alike both in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

While a sports enthusiast as well, I didn’t really take up surfing until my kid rejected baseball at age 12 and one of my patients, whose son was a professional surfer, suggested the NSSA. My son Matt, who currently has his own surf business, Myers Surf Mentorship, coaching and mentoring high-performance surfers, said, well “I am not going to do this unless you do too!”

So… we both began entering NSSA contests up and down the California coast. I entered into the “Masters” contests, competing against 25-year-olds. They would take off with their fins forward, stand up, twirl the board around, walk up to the nose and stand there.  For one year and a half, I finished dead last. Then Matt mercifully said, “Dad, you don’t have to do this anymore.”  I was grateful for this decision. Subsequently, we, Matt, my wife and I became a “surf family” traveling to Australia, France, Central America, Baja, Hawaii and yes, quite a few times to Saladita.

When it became time to retire, I only thought of one place to hang up my shingle for good - Saladita, a great place for a goofy-footer to hang out for the duration.

The famous surfer Corky Carol was my real estate agent. We picked out the property that most suited me. Close enough to the break but not too close to all the activity where noise and privacy would be an issue. We found the perfect spot. Originally, 4 smaller lots. I made it into one large lot 37 + 1/2 meters wide and 100 meters long. I worked with all the local people on the project. I am ecstatic to say it all came out even more spectacular than originally imagined.

The home itself feels like an art gallery with magnificent murals painted by Layla Torres & decorated with Mexican indigenous and colonial artifacts. The property itself feels like Middle Earth. It is my pet project to make Villa de Los Mangos the most beautiful spot in all Saladita. And, of course, the project never ends. For an overachieving medical doctor, the perfect project!

My daily routine and pattern is dawn patrol. Up an hour before daybreak stretching and dancing, then 10-foot dual stringer mango machine (board designed, built, named and gifted to me by a very appreciative guest) perched on my head sauntering down the beach to where I prefer to paddle out. Surf the requisite number of waves and then paddle home using the strong North currents along the coast to the public access, which takes me home.  I built the last third of the public path to make access in both directions easy.  In short, Villa de Los Mangos is a dream realized both in its construction and ongoing development and access to world-renowned surfing. Additionally, hosting guests from all over the world and providing comfort, support and access to all that we have available here is a pleasure consonant with my career as a healer.
