BeOcean Krui

The Krui region in South Sumatra offers a huge range of quality waves and consistent swell conditions all year round, so it can be easily rated as an year-round surf destination.

Our central location has easy access by land to more than 15 different breaks. Together with our solid knowledge of 8 continued and dedicated years of surf expeditions, that will make the most of your trip!

There are three different seasons for surfing:

Early season from February to April: while this time of the year will offer the best surf in the beach breaks in South Sumatra with clean barrels and light winds, it's also a great time to explore those waves located further north with northwesterly winds blowing most of the day.

Mid and Peak season from May to October: this time of the year offers the most consistent swell with numerous choices on our doorstep and trade winds kicking in after breakfast or even earlier! It's also the right time of the year to score some of the solid waves around, still with the benefit of finding sheltered spots when the swell is pumping.

Late season from November to January: still spoilt for choice, the off-season, much like the early season, will get you to the epic surf conditions in the beach breaks located only fifteen minutes away from us with early morning surf perfection while the afternoon can offer awesome sessions out front or locally as well as plenty of adrenaline up north.

Located just outside the town of Krui in a secluded area surrounded by lush trees where the jungle meets the ocean, our cozy surf and ocean lifestyle resort offer a rustic yet elegant atmosphere with quality accommodation and great facilities.

Our charming slice of paradise was created with care and detail to offer you a unique experience next to the surf.

We have five independent private bungalows and two new rooms built on mezzanine style, offering great versatility for a surf trip. All bungalows have their terraces facing our tropical gardens with unlimited ocean views. They all come en-suite, have spacious interiors with high ceilings and plenty of natural light coming through, also equipped with air conditioning, good storage space, and safety boxes.

Housekeeping is offered daily to make it more comfortable. Our facilities include two separate decks perfect for chilling out or where to have your breakfast, lunch or dinner, infinity swimming pool, space for yoga or any outdoor fitness practice, a kitchen bar&resto, self-service tea, coffee, and water in our lobby, and a lounge area with TV, books, games. You will also have access to booking a massage or using the standup paddleboards. We also offer surf photography for enthusiasts of having their best sessions captured and taking them back home!

The food

At BeOcean we put great effort into preparing and caring for the food you eat during your stay, making it one of our main priorities and highlights as we know how important it is to eat well and stay healthy on a surf trip. Our primary sources are provided locally and daily with all the fresh produce from the market, fishmongers, and meat suppliers. However, we also import several goods from outside Krui and Sumatra giving our menus an ample variety of different foods.

We are delighted to offer a great range of food dishes in our menus, which are suited for most. But, if you need us to cater for a different dietary requirement such as vegan, vegetarian, or for those who have gluten intolerance or any food allergies, we can happily cater. Let us know before arrival.

The bar

The main house features our bar area, which provides you with cold beer, soft drinks, and a separate snack menu during the day, including a selection of tasty juices & milkshakes & smoothies! In addition, we have recently added a selection of wines to our drinks menu as well as some tasty cocktails, all this can be enjoyed at any time of the day in one of our front ocean decks.

A selection of Sumatran coffee is offered to our guests on a self-service basis with filtered coffee machines available all day or purchased at the bar if you want a specific type of coffee.

Cool outdoor activities

The Krui region offers a range of other excellent activities to discover during your stay, from its traditional market in the Krui town to ocean activities and jungle experiences, an array of choices that can be explored at your own pace or with our guidance.

We have a few very keen fishermen in the house too, so fishing is part of our life. In case you’d like to get out there for some fishing trips, we can organize a local fishing experience.

Ocean activities bring you to a must-visit to Banana island (Pulau Pisang) opposite our shore, where you’ll be able to snorkel amongst crystal clear water where you’ll be able to spot plenty of turtles!

Feel the cruise vibe of the SUP’s out the front and grab one of our standup paddleboards (available to our guests).

Krui is home to the national protected area of Bukit Barisan Selatan and, with a remote location off the beaten track, has some cool jungle trekking spots to visit that have waterfall rewards!
