The surf
Teahupo'o is undeniably a focus on the surf world as one of the most challenging playgrounds on Earth. There are many islands that receive classic waves. The quality of the waves are fantastic and spots are varied, once swell arrives from both hemispheres.
From November to April, the wet season, there are heavy rains almost every day, specially during El Niño years.
Tahiti is super exposed to the super consistent South and Southwest swells all year round, but peaking between April and October. Swells between November and March are less generous.

Tahurai Homestay is located in the legendary Teahupoo. This is a surf house where you can experience the local Polynesian lifestyle: a space for sharing, creating, and respecting each other. Our comfortable accommodation is close to the mountains and the ocean.

Aloha, I’m Tahurai Henry. I was born and raised at “the end of the road,” Teahupo’o. Tahitians grow up in the water and it was no different with me— bodyboarding, surfing, diving, fishing, everything, right in my backyard. I now spend most of my time at my homestay with my guests or in the water surfing, riding the skiff, jetski or guiding.
