Rincón is known for its long, right-breaking waves. During the peak winter season, surfers of all levels are drawn to its consistent waves and epic diversity. You’ll always find dramatic swells at one beach or another. When the waves are smaller, beginners and intermediates can head to Maria’s Beach for long, clean rides.

Surfing conditions are prime from late fall to early spring. That’s when huge swells form from multiple directions and from two bodies of water—the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The whale-watching season runs from January to late March. Turtle nesting season is from April to June. If you travel in summer, from June to November, you are more likely to have secluded beaches all to yourself and greater hotel, restaurant and tour availability.

We want to teach children and remind adults of the importance of being eco-responsible.

Surf 787's surf school activities, such as surf lessons, stand-up paddle boarding tours, snorkeling, and a trip to Puerto Rico's waterfalls and caves can be added to any personalized retreat. Surf 787 is an ideal location for Yoga, personal training, boot camps, and so much more! Roger Wagner
Owner
Roger Wagner

Born and raised in Brazil in the city of Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul 450km away from a quality wave, Roger always knew his destination would be on the coast. His mother Marlise always encouraged Roger to chase his dreams and her words never left Roger's memory: "I'm raising my children for the world and not for me”.

At the age of 12, Roger bought his first surfboard. He used his own money, as his parents at the time didn't agree with the idea of surfing. The passion for the sea has always existed because as a child Roger dreamed of becoming a marine biologist. After his first summer surfing, Roger discovered that surfing was the sport he felt most happy and free. The sea and nature were the perfect matches.

He was always a sportsman, he trained for many years in volleyball, football, tennis, martial arts, skateboarding, and all sports that could provide a challenge, but it was surfing that brought connection to sport, nature, and a unique feeling.

It was very difficult to live in a capital far from the surf and have to drive 5h30min every weekend to be able to surf good waves. Roger already had it in his mind that the city wouldn't be his home forever, but he promised his family that he would not he would leave until he finished college.

At the age of 24 and graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration, Roger decided to leave the country and venture around the world, and surfing was, of course, a priority. He went to Europe, where he had the opportunity to surf in Portugal, Spain, France, and England. After 8 months, with the arrival of winter, he decided to return to Brazil, as short days and cold water, did not suit his lifestyle.

Back in his hometown he already knew he wouldn't last long and 3 years later he decided to move to California. It was there, in one of the world's surfing Meccas, that Roger discovered surfing would be part of his life forever, because even working 10 hours a day and studying, he found time to surf almost daily.

He started working at a surf camp and soon fell in love with teaching kids to surf and respect the ocean. He was never a fan of cold water, so he decided to spend his California summers teaching surfing and winters teaching snowboarding.

For many years Roger lived the lifestyle he always dreamed of: surfing and snowboarding and traveling the world looking for new waves and adventures. Whenever possible, he spent weekends in Mexico with his friends from San Diego and did at least 1 international surf trip a year.

His life was almost perfect, but he needed another challenge and so he started planning the next phase of his life. He was always adventurous and an entrepreneur and that's how he started the idea of opening his own surf resort. After working for years in different surf camps Roger decided to do something different, focused on the needs and skills of each individual, something that would appeal to both children (summer surf camp) and adults (surf resort) with a desire to learn how to surf.

He wanted to provide great accommodation and excellent surfing classes where 1 instructor never has more than 3 students, which is the idea behind Surf787.

The choice for Puerto Rico was obvious after a surf trip on the “Island of Enchantment”, where he found everything he loved, hot and crystal clear water, good waves, easy access and a safe environment.
