Costa Rica has two seasons. From October through April, it's the dry season, when the waters are warm, and the waves are friendly and less powerful.

From May through August, we have the Green season, also known as the wet season. That's the top time for surfing on the Pacific coast and Santa Teresa gets very reliable SW and W swells that keep it surfable every day. Even though that's considered the best time of the year, you can find beginner to advanced spots all year long.

Santa Teresa surf is at its best during the low tides hours, as the breaks are often faster and more fun to ride. Here, surfing is mostly about riding fast waves and catching world-class breaks. While there are definitely some fun spots for beginners, this area is among the best for experts. There are quite a few surf spots in Santa Teresa, but not all have well-known names.

The lodge

Tucked away by the shores of Playa Carmen, unwind in total seclusion at Selina Santa Teresa South. Surrounded by awe-inspiring nature, spend time riding waves on local surf breaks, venture out on a canopy tour in the nearby Mal Pais forest, or set sail on a snorkeling trip to Tortuga Island.

If you’re looking for a bite to eat, our hotel sits right in the center of Playa Carmen’s colorful and multicultural town, so no matter what flavors you’re craving, there’s plenty of authentic restaurants to keep your taste buds tingling.

On-site features include a swimming pool, a wellness area, a food truck, a CoWork, a shared kitchen, free WiFi, and a massage room.

Wake up and restore your body in a vinyasa class before sitting down to a healthy breakfast. Stroll over to the beach and relax in the tide pools, or wander through the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve and spot a range of vibrant birds with our expert guides. Spend the afternoon hanging out by the pool, tick off some tasks in our comfortable CoWork, and catch the cotton-candy sunset with a cold beer down at the beach.
