Our peak surf season is from September to December. After that, December through March tend to be the monsoon season, but there are some surf spots on offer during this time. In April and May, we can get some perfect longboard waves, and the weather is changing and temperatures start rising. The summer months of June, July and August have small and clean surf breaks, still surfable.

Siargao is world-famous for cloud 9 – on its day it’s a perfect barrelling right-hand wave. However, do not let the Instagram images of this ferocious tube put you off if you’re a complete beginner or intermediate surfer! There are plenty of other spots in Siargao suitable for all levels depending on conditions.

Surf spots are easily accessible in the area. Cloud 9 is a short 5-minute motorbike ride from the resort, and other spots are a short boat ride away. You don’t need to be a surf pro to stay with us, the majority of our guests are complete beginners.

The lodge

We are a boutique hotel with 7 private ensuite rooms, a Thai restaurant and offer island tours, daily yoga, surf lessons & equipment hire. Our resort is a mix of contemporary and native design with solid concrete structures and local nipa palm roofs set amongst the coconut trees. We are located in an ideal location, along the tourism road, halfway between cloud 9 and general luna town center. The beach across the road is an easy 2-minute stroll from our site.

Here, we sleep early and rise early. It is by having a small number of rooms that we can ensure you can unwind, relax and experience everything that Siargao has to offer. Our goal is to provide the ideal environment to enjoy and benefit from time away whilst exploring new experiences and a simple yet welcoming culture.

Food

The restaurant is currrently closed

Buddha’s Thai cuisine concept came from our love for Thai food!

Our Thai cuisine strives towards being sustainable, healthy, and authentic. Our head chef Chatcha is from Bangkok, Thailand, and has over 18 years of experience in Thai cuisine. Our restaurant manager Aimee is a Siargao local and has more than 10 years working in restaurants, 6 of which were in Thailand. He is the important link to pass on his experience of Thai culture and food with our local cooks.

For us, sustainability is super important, so we grow our produce in-house or source from a local organic farm when necessary. We avoid plastic whenever possible – from using stainless steel straws to having a purified water dispenser available for our guests and staff. We support local farmers, sustainable agriculture, and environmentally friendly products.

Activities

Although the island is famous for surfing, Siargao has so much more to offer! From yoga, exploring cave pools, to Island hopping - we’ve hand-picked a selection of what we feel are the top things to do here. We are well known for our yoga and offer classes at least twice per day from experienced international instructors. We have a large yoga shala in our back garden offering complete privacy and peace to help you to relax and unwind.

We do not pre-book tours before arrival due to the nature of them being tide and weather-dependent. Once you arrive at the resort, we can discuss tours in further detail and we can help plan an exciting schedule for your stay with us. Further details and prices are available in the resort.

Surf packages

Our surf packs start at 5 days but if you want to take lessons without a pack it’s no problem. We also offer surf lessons on an hourly basis and we can reserve lessons a day in advance.

Send us a message if you want more info about our package rates!

Buddha was established in 2011 by husband and wife Ashley and Aping. Ashley, from England, discovered Siargao in 2010 and quickly fell in love with its people and decided to make the island his new home by starting one of the first niche resorts for surfers. And Aping, a Siargao born and bred whose family plays an important part in the smooth running of the resort.

Here, in the Buddha resort. we love to travel and are often on the road exploring new surf spots. Our travels help with our innovation of the resort and we try to bring ideas we love and see in other places to Buddha, striving to constantly improve the customer experience. We love simplicity, nature, surfing and good food!
