The Sayulita-Punta Mita area is known best for its friendly, super fun waves. This is the perfect place to take your surfing to the next level. If you're just learning, mellow rolling point breaks will help you find your feet and ride the longest waves of your life. And if you're intermediate to advanced, bring a mid-length, fish, or shortboard to dial in your skills on long rippable points and quick punchy beaches.

The summer season has consistent surf as the southern hemisphere swells march up toward Mexico from April through September. October through March is when the Northern hemisphere fires up and sends the swell from the north. No matter the season, we can always find a fun point or peak to have a blast.

The adventure

The goal of the trip is to surf a bunch of different spots all around Sayulita. We'll sample everything this beautiful place has to offer. Sometimes we'll wake up early and hit Sayulita Point before the crowds. Other days we'll book a boat and head over to some more remote waves and few people know about.

One of our favorite things to do is to take umbrellas and hang out at the beach while we try out different surfboards and dial in our equipment. It all depends on how we feel and where the waves are best for our crew. It's all about going with the flow and taking in the laid-back Sayulita surf scene as the locals do.

Culture

Sayulita is a magical town. It's an area of small ranchero towns where tortillas are still made by hand and local men fish in their panga boats. The Huichol Indians live nearby in the mountains. As we cruise around, you'll see Soccer matches by the side of the road on Sundays, cockfights, quinceañeras, workers having some beers after a long day of work, and loud Mexican music blasting through speakers. You will see and experience the authentic Mexican culture.

Food

Sayulita and Punta Mita have great restaurants, both high and secret hole-in-the-wall spots. One of our favorites is the local lady that sells barbecue chicken on the side of the road where all local surfers eat after a day on the waves. We'll show you the best of Sayulita.

Activities

If we're surfed out or just feel like mixing it up, there's plenty to do in the area. Some of our favorite things are beautiful hikes in the jungle to spectacular views or hopping on a local panga to catch fish and serve up some fresh ceviche.

Hey, I'm Kalle Carranza! My friends and fellow guides grew up here and we know all the surf spots in the area and when to surf them. The experience is not all about the waves, but the people, the restaurants, the hidden beaches, the places you wouldn't probably end up at if you had to figure out this trip on your own. This is your chance to feel like a local. That is why we're here.

I grew up here before there was a thriving surf culture. Sayulita only had two restaurants, a couple of hotels, and no tourist season. All I tried to do when I wasn't at school was surf. We eventually became good at it, got sponsored, traveled the world and it became our life. Fast forward to now and I teach people to surf, guide them, and even talk about surfing during surf events.
