Bungalows Punta Conejo

Punta Conejo has great points and beach breaks, good for every level of surfer. March through October is our surf season and it can be hot and humid with air temperatures around 90’s F (32 C) and water temperatures running around 80 F degrees. Winter has more comfortable temperatures, though, in the 80’s F and high 60’s at night, with ocean water temperatures dipping into the 70’s.

Guests should be aware of the Tehuano, a violent mountain-gap wind that can be over 40km. It blows during the winter months (October and February) through the Chivela Pass, with a summer minimum in July.

Bungalows Punta Conejo is a small and comfortable house with everything you need for amazing surf days that offer various surfing services.

We have 3 spacious bungalows with big rooms, bathrooms and air conditioning, a living room and a dining room with an ocean view. A balcony, straps for surfboards, a garden, and ample parking if you rent a car or bring your own. The bungalows are a 5-minute drive to the first point break, Punta Conejo and another 4 km is Punta Chivo. The house can sleep up to 13 people.

Food

We have a dining room where 3 meals will be provided daily. Breakfast begins at 6 am (different cereal, fruits, milk, juices, coffee, bread, yogurt, granola, coffee, bread, ham, peanut butter, cheese and more). The kitchen is open at 10 am (lots of salads, fish, meat, Oaxacan mole, quesadillas, and typical food of Oaxaca). The meals will change for lunch and dinner.

Activities

We offer customized packages in Salina Cruz for beginner to experienced surfers. The mission is to find the best waves of the day and give recommendations about the best surf point breaks. Each surf guide will plan every tour according to the needs of the individual customers, using his expert knowledge of the weather conditions and the best surf spots in the area that will best suit the customer’s skill level and interests. This package was designed to avoid wasting time finding surf spots or getting lost along the way. Our guides are local surfers with accurate knowledge of the area. They are prepared to advise our clients where and when to surf, the condition of the tides, winds, and entry and exit points that are safe and optimal. This is so that clients get the best experience possible.

Location

Salina Cruz began as a fishing port, giving shelter to the employees of different boats belonging to various corporations. Now, Salina Cruz is an important industrial center of the state of Oaxaca. But more importantly, Salina Cruz is known worldwide for its world-class waves. The wind is one of the main factors in the search for waves because it is constantly changing during the day. However, this is not the only factor in finding the best waves of the day. Knowledge of the tides, the direction of the waves, and the weather conditions are what you need to be in the right place and at the right time.

How is the surf trip?

Breakfast will be served in the dining room. The surf guide services start at 6:30 am daily. We usually surf twice a day, once in the morning and then in the afternoon. We head back to base camp for lunch around midday. If the swell is very good and there are many waves, we will surf all day long. Everything depends on the tides and sand bars.
