Eat like Family at El Chontal

Eat like Family at El Chontal

Drop into Pablo's restaurant in the heart of Barra de La Cruz. Try some of his famous cooking and hear the history of one of the most epic waves in the Western Hemisphere. (Ask Pablo about the times Andy Irons used to wake him up to go surfing.)
Mojon

Mojon

A fast, hollow wave that can produce some serious tubes. It’s similar to Barra but not quite as long and considerably less crowded. Get ready for some tunnel vision.

Barra de La Cruz

Barra de La Cruz

If we told you it was easy to catch a wave at Barra, we'd be lying. When it's good, the crowd is intense. But, when it's good, you could snag the barrel of your life. Not feeling competitive? Grab a cerveza and watch the action before tucking into dinner at El Chontal.
Oaxaca was the best surf trip I ever had, the waves are absolutely incredible, you can have rides of almost 2 minutes long...hot water, sunny, no crowds, fish and turtles everywhere, good people, great food, great adventure. Pablo showed us the true spirit of Oaxaca.

From Barra de la Cruz to Salina Cruz, Oaxaca is the land of picture perfect right-hand point breaks. And while a bunch of right-handers may not sound like a whole lot of “variety,” you’d be surprised.
