Rancho Santana

A stay here will have you nestled against the green forested hills that drop down into the sea resulting in scenic views and tranquility all around. You can choose between a room at The Inn, a residence or casita near the pool, or your very own beachfront villa. There’s a left wedge out in front of the hotel and even a few private point breaks tucked back deeper into the community that turn on when the swell gets big.

Hacienda Iguana

Located just in front of the world famous Playa Colorados is the community of Hacienda Iguana. Here you will find an impressive mix of condos and villas ranging from baller beachfront homes and condos, to more economical, yet highly comfortable pads just off the beach. There’s a 9-hole golf course, a variety of bars and restaurants, and no shortage of barrels.

What makes a Thermal adventure different?
Surfing with the best local guide and staying in the perfect place is a unique and powerful combo. Go with a local to uncrowded spots and explore a new region of the world embedded in the local community.
How well do I need to surf?
Beginner Bay is great for beginners all year round. November - January is a sneaky shoulder season without many people and good for beginners and intermediates. Advanced surfers will want to focus on peak swells April - October.
What are the dates of the trip?
This is your private adventure, so the group size will be whoever is in your own party. And we work with you to book dates that best fit your schedule, budget, and preferred wave type.
What is included?
This adventure includes personalized surf guiding, accommodations, airport and beach transfers, and hosting for your entire trip which means you can focus on the waves.
What's not included?
Flights aren't included. For an additional fee you can rent boards, get daily meals, or take a boat to nearby breaks like Manzanillo, Playgrounds, Lance's Left, and Yankee.
Where do I fly into?
You'll want to book flights to Augusto C. (Managua) International Airport (MGA). Alternatively you could fly to Liberia Guanacaste Airport (LIR) in Costa Rica, but be aware you'll have a border crossing into Nicaragua. Both are about 2.5 hours from the accommodations.
How will I get around while I'm there?
We'll set up airport and beach transfers to get you from the airport to your accommodations and from your accommodations to the waves. Matteo will also be available to take you to any non-surf experiences that you would like to do.
Can I rent a board or do I have to bring my own?
You can rent a board there if you don't want to bring your own.
What other non-surf experiences can I do there?
Along with exploring the local community with Matteo, other experiences include hiking and ziplining Mombacho Volcano, kayaking/canoeing on Lake Nicaragua, relaxing on the beaches of San Juan del Sur, or taking a deep sea fishing charter.
