What makes Playa Guiones a unique surf break is the diversity of types of waves, ranging from beginners to experienced surfers and the surf consistency. The bigger waves tend to be farther out and the softer waves can be caught inside.

Playa Guiones can hold a lot of size with open waves sometimes peaking in the double overhead range. Guiones favors both south and northwest swells and easterly winds. The waves break at all tides, but the surf is usually best around the mid-tide. The ocean floor is pretty deep and a mix of sand and rocky reef, which makes it unlikely to touch bottom unless surfing at a much lower tide and in the inside zone.

In Costa Rica, the green season is from May through August. That's also known as the wet season, and it is the top time for surfing on the Pacific coast. The dry season is still great, though. The waters are warm and the waves are less powerful but friendly. You can find spots to either learn to surf or hit the lip all year long.

Our private and secluded thatched-roof bungalows are scattered amongst the property and are designed to blend seamlessly with our natural surroundings. The thoughtful fusion of modern style and tropical elements provides an intimate but expansive setting that encourages relaxation.

The use of sustainable materials such as wood, stone, bamboo, and more ensures that we remain conscious of our surroundings while also strengthening our human connection with nature. Reducing stress, promoting a feeling of calm, and improving our overall well-being.

Each room features a private entrance as well as a secluded outdoor seating area surrounded by tropical palm trees. Sink into our comfortable king-size or twin-size beds, which are made up of high-quality linens and pillows for a restful night's sleep.

Our Barefoot Bungalow allows for maximum occupancy with space for four people, while the remaining rooms are well-suited for single or double. Amenities such as hot water, air conditioning, biodegradable bath products, a small refrigerator as well as a safe to keep your valuables are available in all rooms.

Although our cabanas might feel far-removed, they are all only steps away from our unique lagoon-style pool with waterfall, our covered Movement sanctuary, and the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Movement

Our beautifully crafted Shala is an open-air space with hardwood floors, a traditional thatched roof, a hand-painted mural, and consciously curated decor. Usable year-round, our Shala comes fully stocked with mats, blocks, straps, and a sound system ready for you to enjoy.

In this space, you will find a variety of community events, thoughtfully chosen experiences, and a daily class schedule. Be guided by one of our in-house instructors or by guest teachers from around the globe as you tap into your sense of flow through a variety of movement modalities, meditation, breath-work, and a deep sense of awareness of the world around you.

Events

Although we offer a lot of relaxation and connection with nature, we also offer a good time in Nosara Yoga + Surf. There are weekly events that take place in our hotel, such as our Saturday night party and other various programs like ecstatic dance and full moon ceremonies.
